Researcher Beatriz Triani, a collaborator with the OIMC and the World Political Analysis Laboratory (LABMUNDO), travelled to Dubai (UAE) to take part in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) as part of the Young Climate Negotiators project delegation.
Organised by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Office for the Environment and Climate (SMAC-RJ), the International Youth Observatory (OIJ) and PerifaLab, the programme aims to train young leaders from Rio de Janeiro to become effective climate negotiators and represent the local perspectives and urgencies of Brazilian youth on the Brazilian and UN climate agendas. As well as taking part in the project team, the researcher works at the Convention as a correspondent for the Youth Climate Leaders network (YCL).
A Master’s student in Political Science at the Institute for Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ), Beatriz is developing the research project The International Climate Change Regime and the tensions between the Geopolitical North and South, under the guidance of Prof Ana Paula Tostes. In the second half of 2023, the Observatory published her piece The Amazon dialogues and the participation of civil society in the Amazon Summit, the most recent edition of the OIMC Commentaries series.
