On 11 May, the Observatory and LABMUNDO will welcome Prof. Licínia Simão (University of Coimbra) to the Institute of Social and Political Studies to give a lecture entitled ‘Ocean Regions and the Ocean Research Agenda in International Relations’.

Professor Elza Neffa, a researcher on the Observatory’s Strategic Committee, has produced the timeline “Socio-environmental History of Guanabara Bay – 12,000 BC – 2025” based on data collected by the Socio-environmental Module of the Long-term Ecological Research project.

Between 16 and 26 March, the Getúlio Vargas Foundation held a short course entitled ‘The Anthropocene and the Climate Emergency: where art and science meet’, organised by the Observatory, which brought together art, international relations, oceanography, sociology, law, economics and political science.

Last Friday, 20 March, IESP-UERJ hosted the defence of the doctoral thesis by Mariana Castro, a collaborator at the Observatory and a researcher at LABMUNDO.
