On 19 July 2024, researcher Mariana Castro took part in the XII Congress of the Latin American Association of Political Science (ALACIP), held between the 17th and the 20th at the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE – Portugal).
The OIMC and World Political Analysis Laboratory (LABMUNDO) collaborator was on the thematic panel Social Movements, Collective Action, Citizenship and Civil Society: Collective Action and Citizenship, discussing her research The Anthropocene in Brazilian civil society: dialogues between science and activism. The work is part of her doctoral research project in the Graduate Programme in Political Science at IESP-UERJ, currently on a scholarship at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA – Germany), under the supervision of Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani.
The 2024 congress was centred on the theme of Latin America as a player in the reconfiguration of global geopolitics. Formed by academics, researchers and professionals, ALACIP is the main international scientific organisation aimed at promoting the development of Political Science studies on Latin America and the Caribbean.
