OIMC Plenary Meeting – August 2026

Last Monday, 3 August 2026, the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change met once again at the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ) for an internal planning meeting, with most of our team attending in person or online. At this meeting, the OIMC had the opportunity to receive two external guests, both of whom presented projects with the potential to contribute to the work of our researchers, as well as to foster new partnerships for social impact with our team: André Tovar Braga (PGUERJ) presented the Skoros Project, an initiative focused on climate awareness and financing. Afterwards, Marcos Sant’Anna Lacerda, president of the Terra Azul Institute, provided an overview of the organisation’s work in building collective networks for climate action.

Following the discussion with the guests, the Observatory proceeded with updates on its various ongoing projects, in particular regarding the organisation of the Latin American Seminar on Climate Justice, to be held in November 2026. Finally, researcher Thaís Jesinski Batista made a brief presentation on her doctoral thesis project in Political Science at IESP-UERJ, entitled The Climate Foreign Policy of Lula’s Third Government (2023–2026): Domestic Contradictions of the Development Model, supervised by Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani.
