OIMC Director delivers lecture at the Rio de Janeiro conferences on Undergraduate Research and Postgraduate Studies

Between 25 and 29 May 2026, the Darcy Ribeiro State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro (UENF), the Fluminense Federal Institute (IFF) and the Fluminense Federal University (UFF) jointly organised the 18th Fluminense Congress on Scientific and Technological Research and the 11th Fluminense Congress on Graduate Studies (XVIII CONFICT / XI CONPG), held at UENF’s Convention Centre in Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ). Last Thursday, 28 May, the director of the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change, Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani, was invited by the organising committee to deliver a lecture entitled Climate Emergency and Information Integrity.

Over the course of four days, the conferences featured lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions and cultural activities centred on the theme Climate Change: Challenges and Solutions in Science. Organised in partnership by the three institutions, the regional event sought to present the research carried out within the relevant Undergraduate Research Projects and Graduate Programmes, as well as to discuss topics relevant to science through the presentation of papers across four thematic areas – Climate and Sustainability; Zero Hunger, Health and Well-being; Education, reduction of inequalities and social justice; and Cities, development and innovation – defined on the basis of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN’s 2030 Agenda.
