Letícia Britto dos Santos hosts roundtable discussion with students from the IFMG in Santa Luzia

Last Wednesday, 17 June 2026, marking the UN Environment Month, the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) hosted a roundtable discussion at its Santa Luzia campus entitled Youth and Climate Change: challenges, impacts and pathways to collective action, led by Prof. Letícia Britto dos Santos (IESP-UERJ).

During the day, the OIMC research collaborator had the opportunity to discuss with the school’s secondary school students the main challenges posed by climate change and its social, environmental and economic impacts, particularly on young people. Aimed at encouraging dialogue, the sharing of experiences and critical thinking amongst participants regarding the climate emergency, the session covered topics such as climate justice, youth participation, extreme weather events, sustainability and local actions to tackle the climate crisis.
