IC researcher from OIMC and LABMUNDO presents work at SEMIC-UERJ 2023

On 29 September 2023, OIMC and LABMUNDO Scientific Initiation researcher Arthur Vargas Facini presented his research project Climate Denialism and Obstruction Policies: the cases of Brazil and Argentina at the 32nd Scientific Initiation Week of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (SEMIC-UERJ).

Registrations open for the III OIMC Cycle of Webinars

The Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change proudly invites everyone to take part in the III OIMC Cycle of Webinars. Between 1 and 22 September, those interested in taking part in the seminars will be able to register using the online form.

OIMC invites Diego Kern Lopes to lecture at IESP-UERJ

On 2 June 2023, OIMC welcomed the artist and scholar Diego Kern Lopes for a presentation of his conference Direction of the wind: a poetic epistemology of the connections between Art, Politics and Nature, at the Institute for Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ). During the meeting, open to the general public, our team had the opportunity to talk to the professor about the role of art in building bridges between nature, culture and society. The conference was recorded in full and can be watched on the Observatory's YouTube channel.

The Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change is releasing the first 2023 edition of the Cadernos do OIMC series, with the article O BRASIL ABDICA DO PODER: An analysis of the impact of climate policy on national defence in the light of Morgenthau's work, written by our associate researcher Rubens de Siqueira Duarte.

OIMC seminar receives certification of Carbon Neutralization

On 30 March 2023, during the first day of the Anthropocene, Climate Change and Social Sciences in Brazil seminar, the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change received the Prima Climate Awareness Seal, from the Prima Atlantic Forest and Sustainability Oscip. The certificate was awarded as a result of the work to offset the carbon that would be emitted by holding the seminar.

Carbon Offset Action for the Anthropocene, Climate Change and Social Sciences Seminar

On World Water Day, 22 March 2023, the OIMC joined the Darcy Ribeiro Forest Institute and a team of volunteers to participate in a collective seedling planting in the Itaipu mangrove area, in Niterói-RJ.
