Between September and December 2023, Prof Carlos R. S. Milani, coordinator of the OIMC, served as a Resident Fellow at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) in South Africa.

The professor developed a research project analysing Brazilian and South African contributions to the debate on the Anthropocene and the climate emergency in International Relations, which will result in the publication of a book by STIAS. Based on this research, during the period he gave a seminar at the Institute on The Anthropocene, Climate Emergency and International Relations: need for new thinking and Global South perspectives, and took part in the colloquium Ocean Regions in an Era of Global Transformations, held at the University of Pretoria
