Last Friday, 20 March 2026, the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ) held the defence of the doctoral thesis by Mariana Castro, a collaborator at the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change and a researcher at LABMUNDO. Entitled “There is no Planet B!”: the political practice of the Anthropocene, this thesis was developed within the Institute’s graduate program in Political Science, under the supervision of our director, Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani. Along with the supervisor, the evaluation panel for the defence included Ana Paula Tostes (OIMC/UERJ), Eduardo Gonçalves Gresse (University of Hamburg), Maria del Carmen Villarreal Villamar (CPDA-UFRRJ) and Pablo Saturnino Braga (OIMC/UERJ).

On the Observatory’s website, we have made the theses, dissertations and monographs produced by our team in undergraduate and graduate programs available to anyone interested. Soon, this work will also be added to the repository.
