OIMC promotes introductory workshop on Climate Emergency during UERJ’s Environment Week

On Tuesday 3 June 2025, the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change will take part in the UERJ 2025 Environment Week, an annual event organised by the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) with the aim of raising awareness among the academic community about the importance of preserving the Earth’s biosphere. Between 2pm and 5pm, in the Auditorium of the Postgraduate Programme in International Relations, at the University’s Maracanã campus, our team is holding the workshop Climate Emergency Course – Introductory Module, thaught by Bruna Bataglia (IESP-UERJ), Filipe Chaves (FAOC-UERJ) and Pablo Saturnino (DRI-UERJ).

Based on our teaching module of the same name released at the end of 2024, the meeting plans to translate in a didactic way the information produced by the scientific community on the phenomenon of Climate Change over the last 30 years, addressing fundamental issues on the climate agenda based on science-based discussions. The workshop will be open to all interested parties, without the need for prior registration, and participants will be issued with a certificate that can be accounted for as extension hours by UERJ.

This OIMC project has the support of the UERJ Department of International Relations (DRI-UERJ), the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ), the Nucleus for Mangrove Studies (NEMA), the Rio de Janeiro State Research Support Foundation (Faperj), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS). UERJ’s Environment Week is organised by the institution’s Pro-Rectory for Extension and Culture (PR3-UERJ).
