On last 9th October, the OIMC welcomed a team from the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) to our headquarters at the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ) to present the results of their research on the panel Climate Politics: domestic and international dynamics. Starting with an opening by Prof. Ana Paula Tostes, our team and the interested audience could learn about and discuss the projects Global level climate obstruction under the Indo-Chinese rivalry, presented by Prof. Miriam Prys-Hansen; Domestic repression in climate obstruction actions, developed by Prof. Christiane J. Fröhlich; and Globalisation of climate-derived conflict: the fragility of global food supply chains, by Political Science PhD student Jesus Renzullo, with mediation by the Observatory’s coordinator, Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani.
These activities are part of the Climate Obstruction and Foreign Policy in Comparative Perspective project, a partnership between the OIMC and GIGA coordinated by Prof. Tostes, which has as part of its mission to produce mobilisation and interaction between academics from countries in the North and South, aiming at a joint and innovative reflection on global climate obstruction.
