The Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change is accepting registrations from people interested in participating in the fifth edition of our OIMC Cycle of Webinars. From 29 August to 15 September 2025, our annual series of conferences with experts on various aspects of the climate emergency will feature four meetings with academics and representatives from Brazilian organisations and other countries in the region.
This 5th Cycle aims to promote in-depth discussions on Climate Adaptation and Fair Transition agendas in Latin America, focusing on the upcoming Belém Climate Conference (COP30) to stimulate discussion on alignments between governmental and non-governmental actors with current policies in Brazil and Latin American countries and on the challenges and obstacles to their implementation. In this edition, we have a new feature: the opening and closing of the Cycle will be offered in person, with the inaugural lecture being part of the Rio Climate Action Week (RCAW) programme at UERJ. The other two meetings will be broadcast live online on our YouTube channel.
The OIMC’s 5th Cycle of Webinars is an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change, organised by professors Ana Paula Tostes and Carlos R. S. Milani, in partnership with the Jean Monnet Chair at UERJ, the Laboratory for Teaching and Research in International Relations (LabRI-UERJ), the Climate and Society Institute (iCS), the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ), the Institute of Philosophy and Human Sciences (IFCH-UERJ) and Rio Climate Action Week (RCAW).
