The Foreign Policy Actors and Agendas Research Group (NEAAPE) of the Institute for Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ) is organising the 1st National Seminar on Foreign Policy Actors and Agendas, to be held on 11 and 12 September 2025, in person at the Maracanã campus of the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), with the option of online participation. Aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers and professionals interested in furthering the debate on the themes, this event aims to provide lectures, round tables, workshops and research presentations, providing a space for the exchange of knowledge and reflection on the role of different actors in the formulation and implementation of foreign policy. Registration is open for papers to be presented in workshops and posters to be exhibited, as well as for attendees.
OIMC is contributing to the seminar’s programme with Working Group 6: Energy transition, climate change and foreign policy. Coordinated by researchers Diogo Ives and Emanuel Semedo, the group seeks to discuss how the foreign policy of different countries responds to demands for energy transition and the fight against climate change. Topics such as international climate negotiations (COPs), technological cooperation, climate diplomacy, the economic and social impacts of the energy transition and the role of state, non-governmental, sub-national and transnational actors in tackling the environmental crisis will be explored.
The 1st National Seminar on Foreign Policy Actors and Agendas has the institutional support of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Brazilian Association of International Relations (ABRI) and the Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP).
