From 10 to 12 February 2025, Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani and researcher Janaína B. Pinto represented the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change during the International Congress ‘Afrontar las Crisis desde América Latina’, in the city of Kassel, Germany. Organised by the University of Kassel in partnership with the Maria Sibylla Merian Centre for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico), the event sought to promote an interregional and interdisciplinary dialogue, connecting debates developed by Latin American experts with European analyses in order to produce innovative solutions.

The congress brought together more than 50 researchers from countries such as Mexico, Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Germany and Brazil to discuss the central place of the climate emergency in relation to contemporary crises. The OIMC team took part in the panel Extremas derechas, democracia y cambio climático: análisis y (posibles) respuestas.
