OIMC releases Online Introductory Module of Climate Emergency Course

The Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change is proud to release the first set of materials for our Climate Emergency online course. Consisting of an introductory module and five advanced modules, the training is aimed at people seeking to critically understand the causes and effects of climate change, especially educators and professionals from different sectors, instructors and multipliers, students, journalists and leaders of civil society organisations and social movements.

Now available, the Introductory Module has been designed to provide a didactic translation of the information produced by the scientific community on the phenomenon of climate change over the last 30 years, addressing fundamental issues such as: the effect of climate on the lives of various populations; the socio-cultural perception of the climate emergency; the main possible collective lines of action for dealing with this crisis; and the main obstacles and obstructions to the necessary socio-environmental transformation. The five video lessons, presented by researchers Bruna Bataglia and Carolina de Figueiredo Garrido, are now available to watch on our YouTube channel. To receive instructions on how to access the full module material, including teaching scripts and slide shows for each lesson, fill in the form available in our website’s Modules section.

Produced at the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ), the Climate Emergency Course was developed with the support of the Rio de Janeiro State Research Foundation (Faperj) and the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS).
