On 31 March 2025, the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change, in association with the Laboratory of Geopolitical Studies of the Legal Amazon (LEGAL) and the South American Political Observatory (OPSA), organised the seminar Governance and Development of the Pan-Amazon in Face of Climate Change, held at the Institute for Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ). The event featured three panels dedicated to discussing the partial results of the research project Pan-Amazonian Governance, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, conducted by staff from the three research groups with researchers associated with higher education institutions in the Amazon region.
Within the event’s programme, the Observatory was responsible for the seminar’s closing panel, Extraregional Powers in the Pan-Amazon between Cooperation and Strategic Interests: the European Union, Norway and the USA. Moderated by Diogo Ives, the panel was made up of OIMC researchers Maria Isabel Santos Lima (author of Caderno do OIMC N. 13), Ana Paula Tostes and Luan Werneck-Costa (authors of Caderno do OIMC N. 17) and guest researcher Lucas de Oliveira Paes (author of Caderno do OIMC N. 18).
