On 16 June 2025, Prof. Carlos R. S. Milanidelivered the lecture COP30 2025 at the Amazon: Climate Change Between Emergency and Obstruction, at the Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines). Hosted by the university’s Literary and Cultural Studies Program, the event was organised by Prof. Charlie Veric and featured Prof. Emma Porio as a guest speaker.

Given the upcoming 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil, this presentation sought to analyse the main challenges that the country and the international community face in order to achieve positive results for the climate agenda during the event. The panel was the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between the studies programme, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the journal Kritika Kultura (KK), the student organisation PLUME and the projects KLIMA: Climate Literacy and Coastal Cities At Risk in the Philippines.
