On 28 March 2025, the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change and the Electoral and Political Observatory (OPEL) joined forces to hold the Climate Emergency and Public Policies seminar, promoting the launch of the report Climate Emergency and Public Policies: Mapping Citizens’ Perceptions at the Local Level at the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ).



Combining invited public managers and experts with members of the two observatories, the event featured two panel discussions: Climate Perceptions and Mobilisation: Overcoming Pessimism with Action, with the participation of Josué Medeiros, Leonildes Nazar, Marcele Oliveira and Mariana Galdino, moderated by Prof. Elza Neffa; and Education, Science and Public Policies for a Liveable Planet, composed of Prof. Carlos R. S. Milani with Gabriel Medina, Luciano Paez and Tatiana Castelo Branco and moderated by researcher Mariana Castro. Part of the IESP-UERJ 2025.1 Lecture Cycle programme, the Climate Emergency and Public Policies seminar was organised with the support of the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS).
