In the most recent publication of the Commentaries from OIMC series, the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change features the essay Notes on the Hamburg EnJust Conference 2024. The Commentaries are short, free-form opinion pieces produced by members of the Observatory on national and international climate issues.
Written by researcher Rafaela Collopy, this issue covers the Enjust Conference 2024, promoted by the EnJust-Network in Hamburg (Germany) at the end of last year, focusing especially on two panels: Racial Futurism: A new conception of power at the intersection of Climate Justice and Climate Security, research presented by geographer Andre Baldwin (University of Durham – England); and Achieving Climate Justice via Securitisation?, presented by internationalist Rita Floyd (University of Birmingham – England). The EnJust network promotes dialogue between researchers, politics, economics and civil society, aiming to raise awareness of environmental justice issues and strengthen the role of science in climate activism.
An undergraduate student at the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IFCS-UFRJ), Rafaela works as a Scientific Initiation researcher at our Observatory and at the World Political Analysis Laboratory (LABMUNDO).
