Climate Emergency and Public Policies Seminar, a partnership between OIMC and OPEL at IESP-UERJ

On Friday 28 March 2025, the Institute of Social and Political Studies (IESP-UERJ) will host the seminar Climate Emergency and Public Policies. From 2pm to 5.30pm, the event will feature two panel discussions in the Olavo Brasil Room at the Institute’s headquarters (Rua da Matriz 82, Botafogo – Rio de Janeiro), combining invited public managers and experts with representatives from the two observatories to promote the release of the report Climate Emergency and Public Policies: Mapping Citizens’ Perceptions at the Local Level. Published on the eve of the last Brazilian municipal elections, the publication presents the results of a collective survey dedicated to understanding how citizens are dealing with climate change. Part of the IESP-UERJ 2025.1 Lecture Cycle programme, the meeting will be broadcast live online on the Institute’s YouTube channel.

Programme:

2pm – Panel 1: Climate Perceptions and Mobilisation: Overcoming Pessimism with Action
4pm – Panel 2: Education, Science and Public Policies for a Liveable Planet

The Climate Emergency and Public Policies seminar is organised by the Interdisciplinary Observatory on Climate Change and the Political and Electoral Observatory (OPEL), with the support of the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS).
