On 20 May 2025, Prof.Carlos R S. Milani, coordinator of the Observatory, spoke at the invitation of Prof. Shuichiro Masukata at Keio University Law School (Tokyo – Japan). Entitled COP 30 in Brazil in November 2025: challenges for multilateral climate negotiations, the conference included the participation of Prof. Fant-Ting Cheng, from the Institute of Developing Economies of the Japan External Trade Organisation (IDE-JETRO), as a panellist.

The academic assignment was supported by the Rio de Janeiro State Research Foundation (Faperj), in a project to encourage international mobility of Brazilian researchers in Asia and Oceania, approved in 2024.
