Environment: Concepts, Policies and Strategies

This postgraduate course focuses on the Brazilian coastal zone, working on three dimensions: scientific, public management and the social dimension. In addition to oral presentations followed by Q&A, debates on videos and texts, the course counts on the participation of scientists, managers and representatives of fishing and extractive communities, providing a true interdisciplinary debate and knowledge encounter.

Environment and International Relations

This course is addressed to undergraduate students in International Relations at UERJ, but it can also be of great interest to B.A. students of other institutes interested in environmental issues. Its main objective is to promote an understanding of how environmental issues (climate change, protection of forests, desertification, protection of biodiversity and the oceans, etc.) have become an essential subject on international agendas since at least the 1960s.

Climate Change: Society, Politics and International Relations:

This postgraduate course, offered in the master’s and doctoral programs at IESP-UERJ, may interest students from different areas. It deals with understanding how climate change has become a fundamental issue for the contemporary world, in all dimensions of social life, from local to global scales.

Climate denial, Democracy Crisis and International Politics

This postgraduate course, offered in the master’s and doctoral programs at IESP-UERJ, may interest students and practitioners from different areas. It aims to analyse the interface between climate denial and the current crises of democracy, confronted with emerging and multifarious forms of authoritarian leadership and government.
